A Guide to Some Common Tree Species

The following list of trees is meant to be a guide to learn more about the many varieties of trees that can be found in our natural and developed landscapes. It is extensive, but not comprehensive and is organized by Size/Type (Shade, Ornamental, and Conifer) and then alphabetically by scientific name i.e. the maple genus is Acer, so it is listed first. Click on the Common Name (in green) to learn more about the plant. For your convenience we have included whether the tree is native, non native, or invasive, and whether it is a host to Asian Longhorned Beetle. Trees known to have other significant pest problems are also noted as such.
