Welcome! Thank you for your interest in rebuilding Worcester's Urban Forest.

About the Worcester Tree Initiative

The Worcester Tree Initiative is a private, non-profit effort to reforest the City of Worcester and surrounding communities. It is a positive response to the devastation of the Asian Longhorned Beetle, the December 2008 ice storm, and the decline of Worcester’s urban forest. Initiated by Congressman Jim McGovern and Lt. Governor Tim Murray, the Worcester Tree Initiative has a goal to plant 30,000 trees in the next 5 years.

The Worcester Tree Initiative helps supply trees to both individuals and organizations. All recipients are trained about the proper places to plant their trees, as well as how to maintain the tree. The Worcester Tree Initiative requests that all trees be registered and tracked in a database. Only non-ALB host species are available for planting. Contact the Worcester Tree Initiative for any further questions or advice.

Why not give the gift of a tree?

For a donation of $50, the Worcester Tree Initiative will plant a tree in Worcester, Holden, West Boylston, Boylston or Shrewsbury. For every $50 you contribute, you will receive a beautiful gift card to send to a special person.

You may make your gift by mail. Checks should be made out to Greater Worcester Community Foundation – Worcester Tree Initiative Fund and mailed to Worcester Tree Initiative, PO Box 2874, Worcester MA 01613. A contribution of any amount will help to reforest the Worcester area.

Please use this form to register new trees with us.

We are compiling a database of all new tree plantings in Worcester and the surrounding towns that will allow us to track the progress of recently planted trees, ensure a diversity of species and ultimately maintain the spectacular urban forest that is part of the identity of central Massachusetts.

In the comments section below, please indicate the tree species and quantity of trees planted.

If you received your tree at a Worcester Tree initiative event and completed a form at that time, it is not necessary to register your tree here.

Thanks for joining our effort.
